Try-outs TB 2025

GENERAL INFORMATION

Those who wish to participate in the tryouts for Team Belgium Cheer must meet the following conditions:

  • Age: athletes born in year of birth 2010 or earlier
  • Must have Belgian nationality or have an official residence permit in Belgium at least 6 months before leaving for ICU Worlds (April).
  • Be affiliated with a recognized Belgian cheer club and be part of a competition team as an athlete or coach.

Naturally, we are looking for all-round athletes, but don't be put off too quickly. Our goal is to put together the best possible TEAM, in which everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Even if you only excel in stunts or tumbling, you can contribute to the team.

This year we are not limited to a co-ed senior team, but the try-outs are also open to Junior All Girl/Co-ed and Senior All-Girl. Based on the tryouts, it will be decided which team(s) we will participate with at the 2025 World Championships.

Information

GROUP & INDIVIDUAL

Try-out preferably per stuntgroup, but individual try-out is also possible

  • In one of the following formations:
    • Co-ed twobased group = flyer, side base, main base
    • Allgirl stuntgroup = flyer, side base, main base, backspot

If you wish to participate in the try outs as an individual, you may do so. In this case, keep in mind that because of the limited time during the try outs, the focus will be on the stunt groups. You will not be assigned to different stunt groups, but you will get the chance to prove yourself. If the jury feels that you can add value to the team, you can also be admitted as an individual.

Important: We try to keep existing formations together whenever possible. BCF reserves the right to change you from stunt group, or even team if it is judged that this would be a better match. (E.g. switch from All-girl to co-ed)

REQUIRED SKILLS

Here you can find the list of the required skills, stunt sequences for the tryouts will be available online after the first skills day. Both the individual skills and the stunt sequences will have to be shown during the try-outs. You will be able to show each skill a maximum of 2x.

Please note that this list is only indicative, it can be deviated from at any time. This means that it is possible that not all required skills will be included, or that additional skills will be requested.

You will be evaluated on:

  • General stamina and coordination
  • Stunt skills
  • Tumbling (jumps, standing and running)
  • Basket tosses
  • Yell

The stunt sequences must be known and practised by the date of the try-outs. We expect correct timing, as well as correct execution and motions for the flyer.

Don't be put off!

If you don't master some of the skills on this list, that's no problem at all. You can still try-out!

Our goal is to create a strong TEAM with versatile athletes. In principle, the more skills you have, the better. But even if you only excel in tumbling or stunts, you can make a great contribution to the team!

We are expecting ANYONE selected to be able to attend ALL training sessions. We will have to learn and practice the routine on a limited number of practices, this is only possible if we can expect maximum effort from everyone. If you cannot attend all training sessions, unfortunately you cannot be selected for the team.

In addition to these mandatory trainings with the team, you are also expected to systematically train independently with your stunt group. We expect independent training on all required elements at least 2x per month. Videos of these training sessions will be forwarded to the coaches and you will always receive interim feedback on them.

Overview of the trip

This overview is subject to change.
Departure is tentatively foreseen on Saturday April 19 or Sunday April 20, return on Sunday April 27 or Monday April 28. The prices of the plane tickets will be decisive. The program on site may also change significantly, we base ourselves on past years, but we plan 2 years ahead, so obviously this is not final.

  • Saturday, April 19 or Sunday, April 20: Departure Zaventem - Arrival Florida
  • (Sunday, April 20): Rest Day
  • Monday, April 21: Evening training
  • Tuesday, April 22: Training
  • Wednesday, April 23: Training + Opening Ceremony
  • Thursday April 24: ICU Worlds day 1: qualifications
  • Friday April 25: ICU Worlds day 2: finals

  • (Sunday, April 27): (Rest Day)/ Disney
  • Sunday, April 27 or Monday, April 28: Departure from Orlando

As you can see, this is a busy schedule with at least 3 training days and certainly 1-2 competition days. The focus of the trip is and always will be participating in the competition. There will be plenty of room to enjoy the sun, but there will also need to be enough rest built in to be able to sustain the trainings and competitions
