For Cheerleading and Performance Cheer, we need a mix each year to practice our routine on and eventually to participate on during competitions or performances.

It is important to consider that the mix was obtained legally and that all rights for it are in order.

Why is this important?

• The law requires this
• Protection of the artists.
• The athlete, the club, the federation, the umbrella federations can be sued for illegal use of music.
• The most recent example: two speed skaters are being sued after their performance at the 2021 Olympics.

Do you want to make your own mix?

A. Completely self-made

Step 1: Buy your music online (do not download it illegally)

• Find out if you can get the license to process the music. Important here is that you check if you have the rights to mix the chosen songs, use voice overs, speed up, slow down,...
• Buy your music online from recognized music providers who have already arranged the licenses for you.

Step 2: Get started with a music program yourself or have your mix made with this purchased music

B. Create your mix via a website

• Songs used on the website are licensed (check to be sure)

Having a mix made by a producer

• First check if this producer really has the rights to mix your chosen music.
• Ask about the license to use the mix

!! Important for you !!!

Make sure you have an official license and can show it when the organization asks for it. An official license can be obtained by purchasing music, no matter which program/website/producer/... you use.
