Cheer Start
Cheer Start is a new initiative by the Belgian Cheerleading Federation aimed at making cheerleading accessible in regions where there is currently little or no offer.
Thanks to the support of the National Lottery, we can invest in local individuals who want to start a cheerleading program in their own community.
What is Cheer Start?
With Cheer Start, we focus on training and supporting local volunteers, coaches, and instructors. Instead of expanding existing clubs, we empower motivated individuals to create their own local cheer initiatives.
Through training, mentoring, and practical support, participants receive all the tools they need to build a sustainable program.
Who is this project for?
For anyone who wants to start a cheerleading or performance cheer team in a region where there are few or no clubs offering these disciplines. No experience is required, but motivation is essential!
Whether you want to start a recreational team for young people or, for example, a competitive university team, we are here to help you successfully carry out your project!
What is Cheer START about?
We offer you support for approximately one year! Cheer START includes several phases:
-
Online meeting. This first virtual meeting aims to introduce the project, clarify our expectations, explain concretely how we will support you, and plan the next steps.
-
Training weekends. During two weekends, qualified coaches will teach you not only the technical basics of cheerleading or performance cheer, but also the keys to building a routine. You will also receive pedagogical advice on how to coach a team effectively and safely.
-
Your turn! You will then have the opportunity to put your learning into practice, with guidance and feedback from your trainers.
-
Personalized follow-up. Throughout your project, you will be supported by our team at every stage, to help you develop your team in the best possible conditions.
To fully benefit from the training and start with a solid foundation, your presence on the following dates is required:
-
Wednesday, August 12 in the evening (online),
-
September 12 & 13 OR September 19 & 20,
-
November 28 & 29 OR December 12 & 13,
-
January 31 OR February 7.
Your presence on these dates is mandatory!
