Judges course Cheer & Performance Cheer
Are you interested in becoming a judge in the dynamic world of cheer and performance cheer? Does judging appeal to you, or would you like to gain a better understanding of scoresheets and how they are judged? Then this course is perfect for you!
Our specialized course provides comprehensive training and knowledge so you can become a skilled and knowledgeable judge. Discover the intricacies of the trade, learn the ins and outs of scoresheets, and improve your understanding of judging criteria.
Date:
- Online pre-training : Monday 23/9 or Tuesday 24/9 from 5pm-7pm (regardless of which course you choose)
- In-person training : Saturday 28/9 (Cheer) and/or Sunday 29/9 (Performance cheer) each time from 9am-6pm
Location: KULeuven Sports Center (Tervuursevest 101, 3000 Leuven)

- Cheer or Performance Cheer only : 100 euro.
- Judges course Cheer and Performance Cheer : 170 euro

Registration
Registration can be done through the online booking platform. You can choose to register for one or both judges courses.
Those interested from Belgium should register at 'Belgium Judges Course'. From June 1 to July 15, there are a limited number of places reserved for Belgians and Dutch separately. After July 15, we will open the remaining places to everyone.

For anyone interested in becoming a judge and better understanding the scoresheets.
Minimum birth year is 2006.
Course Overview
This course covers the following topics:
- Learning to understand the perspective of judges on Cheer and Performance Cheer routines
- Learning to understand the difference between judge, coach and athlete
- Learning to use the judge grid and learning to evaluate and differentiate teams from each other.
*You are expected to master the basics about the different levels (Novice, Intermediate, Median, Advanced, Elite and Premier). You can take the course 'How to read the rulebook and create your routine' for this.
Test
After the online introduction, you will be given a short task to prepare by the weekend.
At the end of the training there will be a test, it will have to be taken in English.
Certificate
If passed, you will be awarded a diploma. If not passed, you will be given a certificate of attendance.
Instructors
Saara Martikka
Saara Martikka has judging experience over 24 years. She has been among cheerleading over 30 years and have had various roles in the sport; an athlete, coach, and a judge.
She has Finnish Cheerleading Federation's judge status A and is also ICU trained cheer judge. She is a trainer for Finnish Cheerleading Federation's judge course.
Kirsi Tuominen
Kirsi has been a part of the cheerleading community both in Finland and in Europe for over two decades. She has been active in developing the sport through being a member in both the Finnish and European cheerleading federation boards and by arranging several competitions on national and international level. Besides winning Finnish and European titles as an athlete, she has been coaching teams for several years in Finland. Kirsi has 15 years of judging experience and has judged ICU World Championships since 2016. In addition to this Kirsi has judged ECU European Championships as well many national and regional championships across Europe over the years.
